About
Hi, I'm Oliver.
Solution Engineer at Kong.
I'm based in Harrogate, England. I work with enterprises on APIs, AI infrastructure and integration, connecting what technology can do with what a business needs from it.
What I do
I'm a Solution Engineer at Kong. The role sits where engineering meets the commercial conversation: understanding what a team is trying to achieve, then showing honestly how the technology can get them there.
Most of that work falls into four areas:
- APIs and gateways. The platforms and patterns that keep many services manageable.
- AI infrastructure. LLM traffic, provider routing, cost controls, and the governance agents need before they reach real systems.
- Enterprise integration. Connecting what already exists with what comes next.
- Business outcomes. Turning technical capability into something a business can make a decision about.
How I work
Discovery first. Before architecture or products, I want to understand the problem: who uses the system, what fails today and what success would look like.
Architecture that fits. A good design works with the estate a team already has. I'd rather explain a trade-off clearly than hide it in a diagram.
Demos that answer real questions. A useful demo or proof of concept tests a team's own requirements rather than following a script, and it should make the next decision easier.
Decisions people can stand behind. The aim is a choice the team understands well enough to explain to others, including what it won't do.
Education
I studied at the University of Leeds.
Beyond the screen
Away from work, I volunteer in junior rugby and cricket in Harrogate, including coaching roles with Harrogate RUFC and Beckwithshaw Cricket Club, where I also help with team management and All Stars sessions. I've previously volunteered delivering food with Harrogate Neighbours.
